I noticed that the P-64 in the banner for this site has a plastic thumbrest grip. I've also noticed a that a couple people have mentioned that their original grips have a thumbrest.
My grips do not. Does anyone know where I can obtain this, or have one to sell? I'm assuming that I only need a left side. I know that there are wooden ones available, but I'm trying to stick to stock appearance and dimensions.

the thumb rest grip is not the standard grip it was put on the gun so it could be imported , not only that the thumb rest grip is not made of the same plastic as the right side grip and has a tenancy to crack

Fire a P-64 with a thumbrest and you will wish you had a flat left grip!

The first ones I had were replaced with flat grips ASAP.

They look different, maybe even a little cool, as in the photo on the homepage, but you will soon be looking at replacement grips.

I sold two left grips on eBay for $5.00 each and considered myself lucky that there were buyers for them.

What's the problem with the thumbrest grip? Cracking is of course bad, but I'd always have my original grip to replace it if that happened. I really enjoy the accuracy of this weapon, and intuitively think that a thumbrest would enhance this.
Also, on the subject of cracking...anyone on here have the capability of making a mold of the grip, then making it in hard rubber? Seems that this would be a bit more comfy to shoot, especially if there was a way to link the grips with a backstrap:)

The thumbrest grip tends to make your thumb ride up farther that you really want it to. It rides up so high that the web of your hand in is the path of the slide. Guaranteed to rip up your hand.

Go with whatever left grip you like.
I personally prefer the flat and have cracked a thumbrest panel.
Both of my P-64s came with thumbrest grips. Many people have shot them and I have yet to see a single drop of blood much less a ripped up hand.
If you would like to mold some left thumbrest panels, I'll lend you a grip for the mold.

I too, have the thumbrest. I do like them...except for the hairline surface cracking.
Anyone who can fab these into a hard rubber, or "oversize" style, I would def be interested!!

Thumb rest on my PA-63 and wish I had one for my P-64. I appreciate the the improved control and accuracy you acquire with a thumb rest. It is especially helpful when doing rapid strings of two, three and four shots in my opinion.

I have one with the thumb rest and one without. I pick up the one without more because the hammer spring is lighter. Never really gave it much thought but it could be because of the thumb rest. I don't have wood grips for mine, the way I have been spending money for this hobby, I will need a donation from several of my friends for some wood grips. ;D
