A few years ago I got two 1971 P 64s from SOG w/ round hammers. Today I had my FFL order me two more P 64s from SOG. I told him to request triangular hammers but I wasn't willing to pay a handpicked fee for them. I'm not sure what I'll get...but should know by the end of the week. Which do you prefer and why?

I like the triangles for carry best because I have fat thumbs and they are easier to cock.

I like the apprearance of the Round Hammer, but the Triangular Hammer is much easier to use. Like "warthog", I have fat thumjbs too, LOL!

I agree with Abwehr and Warthog, the triangular hammer is easier to use, but I do like the looks of the round hammer, and it won't snag. So, I keep the triangular hammer next to my bed and the round hammer for CCW because at 62 I like easy, I be built for comfort now days.

I have round hammers on my Mak and my Zastava--I like the triangular one on my P64, just for variety's sake!

The protrusion of the triangle-type hammer is so small, snagging isn't really an issue. Aesthetically, I like the round, but I prefer the triangular for function.

I agree--I havn't experianced a snag problem with my triangular hammer. I also feel it is easier to thumb cock, though I wouldn't in the the typical draw and shoot situation. I also think it just plain looks better. But, to each his own.

I agree that the neither hammer is really a snag issue, however, I pocket carry and in the sitting position, I have had a couple issues with the triangular hammer snagging on my pant pocket, that is why I use my round hammer to pocket carry and the triangular at my bed side; but in the standing position it is not an issue.

My FFL left me a message this evening. One of my P64s is a 1976 w/ a triangular hammer. He said that SOG said that they couldn't guarantee a later model w/ a triangular hammer. So I guess I got lucky! ;D

Congratulation on the new purchase and getting the Triangular Hammer.

Since I have all three variations now, I am on the lookout for a P-64 from the First and last year of production. I always need a goal to work toward, LOL!

I have one of each. I vote for the round hammer. It's actually easier for me to cock (big hands?) and it looks better too.
