I've got a Chinese sks that I put a ATI stock on,looks like a Dragunov copy, scope mount 6x scope...blah blah blah, the problem is that I pulled the factory 10 rnd.mag out and got a detachable 5,every time I pull the bolt back to put a shell into battery the point of the bullet get caught on the outside below the chamber. These guns don't have a feed ramp, and I tried ever so gently bending the mag lips,I was having the same problem with the 10 rnd. mag also, any idea's would be greatly appreciated,as I am to my wits end with it! :(

the Chinese version takes the "Duckbill" type of magazine, do you have the squared off "Box" end magazine? Make sure that your mag is going all the way in and LOCKING that duckbill up into the frame catch. I bought the Box type and I need the duckbill style for my chinese SKS. Good Luck , G

Thanks,I read through the threads, seems aftermarket mags sometimes need tuning,I've got it close, but no cigar. It's the duckbill type. I may have to go back to the factory 10 round, maybe I just didn't have it seated? :-/

protector,

I have an old early 90's Norinco paratrooper in an ATI stock. I have always used the steel USA 30 round mags in it without a FTF. You may want to check out Tapco's new 20 round zytel mag. They claim that it is designed to work in composite stock SKS's....and won't even work (without modification) in wood stocks.

You also may want to check out this link. I have never used these mags, but a guy who works at a local gunshop SWEARS by them....claiming that they are indeed THE BEST aftermarket detachable SKS mag. After clicking link, scroll down the page to the SKS section.
