Sorry about the poor cell phone pic. Heading north to around Gladwin/ West Branch area for a couple. Hope to make it up to Mancelona area while up also, gotta conquer the hill back from those water stealing aliens, don't ya know!
Also just wanted to make sure I was capable of posting pics here. I haven't tried before and with the Big Shoot and all, I figured some sort of test was in order. Hope to hit the range tonight or tomorrow and post to THE THREAD tonight or tomorrow.

manicmechanic,

Thanks for sharing, pix looks good to me too, looks like where I go to shoot sometimes just a couple miles from the house, we got a lot of "boonies" around here, but for a quick shoot to try out a gun before I buy it or to just shoot a new rifle or handgun you can't beat it.

Note: Does anyone know where the saying, "boonies or boondock" came from besides Billy Joe Royal's song, "Down in the Boondocks", it might surprise you...... ::)

Boondocks may refer to a remote, usually brushy rural area. The expression was introduced to English by American military personnel serving in the Philippines during the early years of the 20th century. It derives from the Tagalog word bundok, meaning "mountain". It also carries the implication that it is "backward" or "unsophisticated"; hence taga-bundok "people who live in the hinterland": i.e., people who are backward or unsophisticated.

My grandfather served in the phillipines in WWII and told me the exact same thing recently, it does mean Mountain.

Well I did make it up to the "boondocks" on the 11th at least, with all the squids this time. My wife was our photographer, she's still recovering from some intestinal surgery from 6/13, she wasn't up to any shooting. Maybe next time. In this shot, she caught my oldest handing off my XD to me right after the trigger bar spring broke. Sent it off to SA for warranty, hoping they may include a refinish job in Armory Kote and an extra spring or two. Maybe wishful thinking, ya just never know.
This was my younger daughter's first shoot, she had shot a 20ga. at a sporting clay shoot once before, but first time out with the 22 pistol and rifle. She really enjoyed herself, I think with all of their help, picking up a 22 pistol won't be too hard to swing with the boss!
We did drive off the water thieving aliens, after a battle of 3-3.5 hours our work was done. Was a perfect afternoon for shooting, mid 70's, a little overcast, and thank God no bugs.

Well I guess the planets were all in alignment, even the non-planet Pluto. I got the XD back today and they not only replaced the trigger bar spring and refinished all the metal parts, they threw in 2 extra springs in case it breaks again, a new 12rnd mag, and did a nice job all around. While they had it torn down I had them install some Trijicons. Now I've got to get out and run some downrange, and see how the sights are lined up. Here's a few pics. Man, I'm already liking these Trijicons!! 8-)

Neat XD! The Trijicons are the best IMHO. I have them as standard equipment on my old Sig P220 with K-Kote finish that I got new in 1988 and they still are fine. Meprolights that I had installed on Novak sights on a Colt Officers Model in 1992 were worthless by 1995.
