Hi again all,

I don't know if anyone ever posted anything about making your red safety dot really red after a complete cleaning. Brake cleaner will eat your red dot right off.

I have been using Testors model paint in Gloss Red to re-do my dots. It is enamel and about the only thing that will eat it off is the brake cleaner. It is not affected by the normal gun cleaning solvents.

The nice thing is that it costs about one dollar, depending on where you pick it up, and a jar will last for a really long time.

Just a little tip.

Does the nail polish flake?

Is it affected by solvents besides acetone?

The Testors seems to be very tough stuff.

I always said I was going to do this and never have. I picked up a Star BM this weekend and the front sight is...was...painted red at one time. It has since worn off a bit. I was going to pick up some model paint but now I think I'll try the fingernail polish trick. Between my wife and my daughter I'm sure I could have some very attractive front sights!! Now to get some brake cleaner to clean the old stuff first.

Thanks for the tip Norm. By it seems like I type that alot... :-*
