TTH,
Outstanding project, it looks great. I think everyone enjoyed the step by step too, thanks. What did you end up using to make the red safety dot?

Nail polish for now... I will use the duracoat red since it is a very tough finish.

Truth...
I did it so that I could have something different on one of my P-64's. I love the bluing and there is nothing wrong with it. I plan on doing a very nice smooth polished bluing also.

Thanks. I will post pictures of a rebluing on another one sometime in the future. I have never refinished a firearm before however, it was fun and not that hard.

Looks amazing. How long would you say this took you to do? And how much of an investment is it for all the necessary materials?
From the pictures, the gun appears a little rough - or maybe textured is the word I'm looking for. Is that just a result of the camera flash?

It is supposed to look like that. Duracoat should look a little like parkerizing. No shine, no gloss; a very "flat" finish, if I'm not mistaken.
Add edit: I went to the Duracoat page and found that you can apply it in a shinier or glossier fashion. It comes in many colors and clear. Here's the link:

Bzinggg, Thanks for the website. I've got an old shotgun that I'm going to do first. If I screw that up, nobody will care. Later Don
