Morn,

That is a uncut M1 Garand bayo, but I don't know those markings unless it's Danish markings, I'll have to do some research.

Norm,

Here is some info on the WWII M1 bayonets. I still believe that the bayonet you have is a post WWII bayonet and has been either copied which several did after the war or were cut down and refitted. Several countries use the M1 after WWII and the Korean War too. Some of the countries were Denmark, Norway, Iran, Italy, Indonesia, S. Korea, W. Germany, Japan, China that I know of. My best guess would be its W. German, but they were usually unmarked but they were made by E.F. Horster in Germany in the 50's for the M1 Garands that the US gave Germany to rearm the Bundswehr.

Here is some history on the US M1 bayonets.

took my M 1 to range on MON.

shot one bandolier of Greek ammo though it and 3 clips of my loads for my 03 A3though it just to see if my loads would work in it, I found my loads were much more accrete than the Greek ammo and function perfect
my 03 A3load is 53 grns of H414 behind a 180 grn.spbt bullet and i find its much more kinder to the brass too.

Norm,

As of now I don't have a M1 Garand but do have a 03A3, and I have some of that .30-06 Greek ammo and it's fine for plinking but when we have military matches at my gun club, we have to use surplus .30-06 ammo, the club has bought a large supply of Lake City ammo for our matches and feels this makes it fair for all, so we only shoot .30-06, I realize this is a bit different because most military shoots include different calibers, ie., .303, 8mm, 7.5mm, and so on, but we only shoot .30-06 and we all use the same ammo.

BTW, I finally did get a 16" bayonet for my Remington 1903A3, its a RIA 1906 and in excellent condition, anjdrifter knows how long I have been looking for one, but my patients paid off.

Norm,

Great looking M1, very nice job on the new stock. I'm still looking for my M1 Garand, sold the one I had for another project but one will show up one of these days. Mean while I have to be happy with my Remington 03A3 and RIA bayo.

Now you're cookin'! Glad to hear it. I've bought some nice rifles and cans of ammo from the CMP and have never been disappointed.
