Unlike many members on this forum, when I put lighter weight hammer springs in my P-64 I had some light primer strikes and with an 18lb hammer spring it would fire only about 33% of the time in double action. I went back to stock springs and the gun has been 100% for over 1000 rounds.

First, welcome aboard, glad to have ya with us.

Second, +1 with redfestiva on the springs,except I never did change out the springs on any of the 5 P-64's, '68,'69, '72 and two '76's I had, I'm down to two now, but after puting over 500-1000 rounds through them they all loosen up and speaking for myself only, I haven't had a single problem with any of them even the DA pull is fine on all mine, but to each their own........... ;D

And this is a great place full of tons of info and great people!!!

I will need to try my P-64 with stock springs first. And if I feel that the recoil is too sharp/harsh, then I'll go with 20-22lbs spring.

But now, I am leaning toward keeping the hammer spring.
Yes, the DA pull is heavy, but I think it's not that bad on mine.
Since mine is mint/unissued, DA pull will get better with time and # of rounds through.

donnerwetter, I haven't picked up a CZ 52 yet. And I don't think I will anytime soon. Need to save up $$... >:(
And for that same reason ($$), it will be a while to pick up a CZ-82.

I "HAD" an E. German Makarov that I had bought in 1998 in VG-Excellent condition (I think I paid around $150). But like an IDIOT, I sold that gun in 2000. I'm still asking. Why Why Why???

So I plan on keeping P-64 along with what I have already, and will add others like CZ 52, 82, Tokarevs--- as situation permits.
