I was actually thinking the same thing before I got my P-64, I'm glad I got it. I skipped about half of the responces so far but if anyone has mentioned the heavy trigger pull, it's not really a problem for ccw.

I've been practicing pulling double action and didn't even realize how strong my trigger finger is now, after you shoot it a while it becomes fairly comfortable and you then can handle any other trigger power thrown your way. I discovered I can now pull the trigger on my 1895 nagant like a old smith and wesson special

or for a couple of bucks you can trade out the spring.

Don't forget about the CZ-82, it is a smooth, accurate pistol, C&R eligible and shoots the same 9x18 makarov ammo as the
P-64. I love mine!

Thanx for all the input. There are 2 gun shows the next 2 weekends, so I'll be looking at the CZ82 w/9rd clips(CA legal) or the PA-63, since the P-64 isn't legal here :'(. There are very few milsurp pistols on the CA DOJ Handgun Roster, so I'm a bit limited. The CZ82 is cool because it's C&R. I'm mostly going to the shows to pick up my usual can of surplus 7.62x54r ammo to feed my Mosin rifles, but may get some kind of Eastern European pistol instead!

you wont be sorry if you get either the 82 or the 63 they are both nice .ofcourse the pa63 is better to conceal if you are legal that is...was on range yesterday with them both and of course my favorites P64's {gotta keep em firing }

nope they are real names ....and real places... and some have good fishing spots right on the atlantic ..just for fun see them on mapquest maps.
the whole area was a forgotten part of the eastern shore for centuries not anymore..

I lived in upstate NY for a couple of years and there was lockport, lakawanna and so on. I am always intrigued by the names and their inherent root in the earliest settlers in that region. I never stop getting a kick out of traveling through Rome (Maine) or Athens (Georgia) etc.

Being born and raised here, I wish it had stayed forgotten!

Just bought a PA-63 today at the Crossroads Gun Show. It's going to be a long 10 days wait! The gun looks REALLY nice, almost unused. I almost didn't get it, another guy was looking at it first and he said he'd be right back with the money. A half-hour went by, he didn't show, and the gun was mine! ;D Looks very stylish too in the two-tone color scheme! Will have pics in 10 days.

Is any brand of 9x18 ammo good, or are there any brands that shoot better in this gun?

How much disasembly has to be done for the first clean up? Or is it just a thorough cleaning of the barrel and chamber? This is my first semi-auto pistol, so not too familiar with them yet.

take the grips and the slide off

(be careful of the sear pin's when you take off grips)


then soak in a solvent then blow off
with brake cleaner or WD 40
then lightly oil
if safety is hard to turn you may have to take safety apart


I use ether diesel fuel or paint thinner to soak in
if red dot comes off, red finger nail polish works just fine or any red paint put on with tooth pick
I use 20 w 50 synthetic oil and a light coat of axle grease on the slide rails
