The firing pin has to rub / move against the firing pin spring as well as inside the firing pin channel and as all are metal and moving against each other should be lubed to prevent unnecessary wear and missfires due to light strikes because the firing pin cannot move freely. The trick is to NOT put too much lube in that area causing problems from dirt / debris attraction.
As far as the springs, Wolf springs makes firing pin springs for the P-64. One comes with the multi spring calibration pac I believe.

I spray Remoil from the FP hole at the breech with the straw then blow it out the same way with compressed air in a can or compressor till it doesn't run out the back.

This is too weird!!! The recoil springs I bought from Wolff for spares (18#) each also came with a FIRING PIN SPRING!! Why is this weird? Well, someplace I read that the P-64's were not "drop safe" as they did not have a firing pin spring and used a "floating" FP instead. We all know that this is BS because the FPs in the P-64's have springs in the channel! Who the hell said they don't? And where did they get this information?! It wasn't in this forum and I can't remember where I read it but this is crazy.

And I tend to agree with this. I just go by the statement in the GLOCK manual to never put oil in the firing pin channel. NEVER! That's their big no-no. And the Glock FP rides within a spring in the FP channel yet they make a major deal outta keeping ALL lubes form that area. I guess everybody has their reason....

P-64's are not drop safe as there is no firing pin block that will only let the firing pin move IF the trigger has been pulled through a full arc. But not because the have a floating firing pin. And Glock does not want lube in the firing pin channel because dopeheads tend to put way too much in the channel which then dries or becomes gunked with dust / dirt causing misfires. Again, a little is good, too much very bad and they don't want lawsuits cause people are stupid.

Interesting. It seems I learn something new each day I read this forum! I do agree with your reasoning on the metal-to-metal contact surfaces - springs included. I'm still a bit averse to oil in the FP chamber, though. But as far as the source of FP springs, they come from Wolff in the package with the recoils springs, of all things! Thanks for the info!
