I hope they get the Makarov Glaser slugs back in stock some time. I like them. I did some informal ballistics testing on them and a couple different JHP rounds many years ago in 9x19. I fired them into a 5 lb. block of gray modeling clay inside a coffee can (to keep it from splattering all over) with interesting results. The hollow points expanded well and left a thumb size entry hole, a fist sized cavity and burrowed all the way to bare metal at the bottom of the can without exiting. The Glaser slug excavated a crater 6 or 7 inches deep in the clay, did not expose the metal bottom and I was hit in the face (which was six feet away) by flying clay. The only thing left of the slug was a small piece of the base. Over penetration would not be an issue.
Somewhere I have pictures of the clay after it was shot, if I find them I will certainly post them. I did save the recovered “bullets”. From left to right – a copper jacketed HP (I don’t remember the brand), a Winchester silver tip, and remains of the Glaser slug.
