After shooting the gun again yesterday, I would probably be willing to pay that amount to keep it working if my safety ever did break.

Update:
The firing pin is pretty much the same deal as the safety - too costly to reproduce without paying dearly for it.

I really find this odd. Not that it's costly, due to engineering time and line runs, but that no one has geared up and ran a zillion of these to take advantages of Economies of Scale.

At least two places have done it for the CZ52 which seems to be about as popular as the P64.

If I still had any contacts in the private machinists I'd see if any of them were interested in doing some "garage work" parts.
