With the gunlaws in Mass I would definitely have some SERIOUS issues with a Skorpian as it is considered a pistol! But it sure would be fun!!

I didn't know there was a show in NH...I just went to another site and saw it is the Concord show. I'll have to check with my son and see if he's free at all. It wasn't bad last year. I can't think of anything better to do on a rainy day! What day are you available???

Thanks!!! Your 1 inch group is darn fine shooting as well!! When I was shooting at 500 yards I was shooting 75 grain Prvi Partisan Match ammo (AIM sells it). I just started handloading for .223 and shot some bulk Winchester 55grn FMJBT bullets at 200 yards and got a good 2+/- inch group. Actually, my handloads where every bit as accurate and precise as the Match ammo at the same distance (200 yards)!! Unlike the Prvi Partisan 5.56 M193 that made a 4 inch group that was 6 inches high and 6 inches to the right at 100 yards >:( .

I think the biggest thing I can do to decrease my 500 yard group size is to give the thing a trigger job. I haven't worked the trigger enough to smooth it out, as it is now it draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags making it hard to "stage".

I didn't think you sounded "anti" AR, you asked what other AR owners thought of their rifles and I offered my opinion of my AR. I hope I didn't sound rude/defensive in anyway as it is certainly not my intention.

As a matter of fact, I have a deep appreciation for the .30 cal. I do own a 30-06 bolt rifle. It is a Savage 110; synthetic stock, bull barrel, 5 round built in mag....weights about 6 or 7 pounds and kicks like a mule!!

I used to shoot it quite often and was getting 1 inch groups at 100 yards, then the recoil killed that scope. I put a Bushnell 4x12x42mm scope on it and was getting good groups again then I decided that I hated the scope on that rifle. Don't get me wrong, I like the scope...it is very clear, holds zero and the magnification ring is very smooth to operate. The problem with the variable power scope is the eye relief is not constant (NOT something you want on a light weight, hard recoiling rifle!!!), on the lower power setting my eye is a comfortable distance from the eyepiece, on x6 my eye has to be a little to close, x8 is like asking for a black eye and x10 and above makes the rifle un-shootable. I want to get a fixed power scope before I shoot it again, and I have been feeling like I need to shoot my rifle!

I would absolutely recommend this rifle. Savage makes a fine rifle, not overly fancy, not to expensive (but not cheaply made!!) and solidly designed.

My Harris Bipod attaches via the Quick Detach sling swivel stud which is pretty cool because many new "sporting" type rifle already come the the QD sling swivels and Harris makes a swivel stud adapter for just about every rifle there is. I bought Uncle Mikes QD sling swivel studs and put them on my Ruger 10/22 specifically for the bipod.

I have a MN 91/30 that I need to get into a shootable condition. I bought it knowing the barrel was about shot out, its a 1933 non-rearsenaled Tula hex reciever with all matching numbers...basically a "had to buy".
