I have a Dan Wesson 8 inch Ventillated Heavy barrell, blued steel in .357 that I bough several years ago, second hand. I still can't understand why the owner traded it, because it is among the most accurate pistols I have ever shot.

The other "favorite" revolver is a .22 RG 23. Yep, there it is! I said it, an RG. It's so crude you gotta love it, and it works--kind of like the orginal VW beetle, I guess. Not that I'm endorsing RG--I had one of those in .25 once and it was arguably the worst gun I've ever picked up, but the simple .22 actually works!

I'm not sure what an RG is and would love to see a picture. I recently had a chance to buy an old Omega RG ??. It has a 3 or 4 inch barrel, is a 22lr, and looks like it was chopped out of a block of steel. The grips are flat and angular, the hammer is very flat and the cylinder release is on the barrel not the frame near the trigger. I could find no info about it and walked away. Is yours an "Omega" RG 23? The seller mentioned to me it was a very accurate and fun gun but just strange looking and lack of info on the web or auction sites scared me off. If anyone has any info on this Omega, let me know, maybe it was a deal and I ran away!

I'd say my all time favorite is a S&W 686 2 1/2 inch barrel.

I am not a revolver guy too much and only own about 4-5. But my favorite is a US Military 1909 Colt, built in 1910, and in .45 Colt caliber. I don't have a photo, but it is in approx. 88% condition. It was shipped directly to the Phillipines, and since it probably saw some type service there, it is in very nice condition. The Colt 1909 is just the military designation for the commercial Colt New Service revolver.

I regularly get confused about this handgun...is the Colt you reference the 45 acp with moon clips or 45 long?

I would love to get my hands on a 45 acp that uses moonclips. I think it is really neat when I have multiple firearms that fire the same caliber. Less confusing and more fun.

I know there is a S&W also I think made in 1917(?) that shoots the 45 acp with moon clips. I saw a South American contract copy in the SOG flyer for almost $600 recently. I'd like one just not that badly.

the 1909 .45 "abwehr" is talking about is a 1909 .45 Cal [.45 long colt] Check out this site for some info and pic's of the 1909.

neat stuff papabear, I've got an oldie as well that I don't think anyone would recognise aside from what it's design is copied from, I'll make it a quiz.

I'll take some pics of it in a bit when I actually feel capeable of getting up and getting it from the other room (was at an independance/birthday party and I'm worn out)

I'm going to try to fool with photobucket this weekend and if I can get proficient, I'll show you the Dan Wesson and the RG 23 together. Quite a bit of 'size' difference. I've never heard of the RG Omega, as far as I've ever heard, they all had model numbers. The parts were made in Germany and assembled in Miami, if memory serves. So many of them were thoroughly forgettable, but I understand a lot of the small .22's worked fairly well.

ok its fixed now!

My Grandfather gave me this revolver a few months ago, It took quite alot of research to figure it out, lets see if anyone can guess what it is.

Is there any way you can post a larger pic of your revolver, it is really hard to tell with the small pic, and could you show both sides, these old eyes need more detail, ie., is it a pinned bbl, straight cut frame, pinned front or unpinned front sight, grips, swivel, etc etc.........interesting piece, but for me I need a larger pic, Norm and AJ seem to be in the right church, just in different pews, but from the pic I can't tell.

Thanks for the larger pic. My best guess is its a Spanish copy of the S&W model #4 top break in 38/200 or .38 short, some were also made in .455 and made for the British in WWI made by Eibar, I say that because of the type of trigger and the round trigger guard that yours has and the grip frame with the shortened grips and the swivel, in the back of the grip frame, other wise, I don't have a clue.
