CZ -82 I THINK ARE C&R NOW

From what I understand, they pretty much take the next one out of the box. Getting one chip-free doesn't guarantee the next one will be. You can pay an extra charge for hand-picked items, but they aren't going to open dozens of crates just to find a perfect one. They peruse the ones they have been filling orders out of and pick the best one they can find out of 5 or 10. In your case, you were lucky at the draw.

realize I got real lucky and know the system all too well but now I want one that is not quite as nice so I can really work on it....

anjdrifter's dilemma reminds me of the time I bought a $40 Turk Mauser for a rebarreling project and they sent me "the one at the top of the heap" and it looked like it had never been fired ... not even a brass stripe on the mag follower from testing

Of course, at $40, I just shook my head in amazement and ordered another and smiled.

Just re blued the slide on one of my CZ-82 , I'm not crazy about paint on my hand guns , may do the frame later

That looks fantastic! IMHO that took alot of gutts to put a wire wheel to the metal but WOW! I just replied to another thread about truth's mention of Duracoating a CZ82 like TTH did to his P64. I think bluing is probably easier and faster don't you? And it looks really good! Nice job.

Norm that CZ 82 looks very different in a good sort of way, I
wonder if the metal of that pistol is harder to get a good
finish with blueing products.

TTH did a great job on that P-64 but for my hand guns I like them to be blue or hard chromed , even so I do have one that is that is parkerized and may still send it off to hard chromed

this only took me 4 hours ,there is a rumor going around that the CZ-82 won't even take a blue , so I had to find out for my self if it would take a cold blue , so if it took a cold blue it will take a hot blue
there is a difference in the metal of the frame and the slide one is harder than other but both are made of good steel

I'v read on another web site that guy took a crook pot and some blueing salts and did a real nice job on a STAR BM

The refinish job on your CZ-82 is spectacular! Like you, I don't really care for the painted finish either. The only good part of paint is the pistol doesn't rust as fast from handling, LOL! I thought about having mine refinished by a local Milsurp gunsmith with a phosphate finish but he only does regular bluing. The matt finish you have done really looks NICE!

THANKS , I like to take credit for it but that's the finish under the paint all I did was buff it with a fine wire wheel at a low speed not to take any metal off , was in a hurry
