Firing Pin removal

Post by ccpd »

Need directions with removing the firing pin so I can clean the channel and regrease when finished. I tried a subject search for "firing pin disassembly" and got nothing.

Any help appreciated.

Firing Pin removal

CCPD

The first thing I do is I find a clear plastic bag I can put both of my hands in and put the gun slide in it ,that way I don't have don't have any springs flying around the room
to take a firing pin out , the first thing to do is to push the firing pin forward then take a pair of hemostats and clip them on the ex stinted part of the firing pin, then with a dental pick push the safety catch plunger in
and turn the safety till it comes out put back in reverse order

to take extractor off take a dental pick and push down on the extractor plunger slide extractor out put back in reverse order

the clear bag is not my idea someone else posted it on this board I think in 2005 but it works you can get dental picks and hemostats at gun shows and car shows that's where I buy them
it's cheaper than the dental supply co.

Norm,
Your the best. Just so happens I've been in the dental business since 1967 when I started school. Never new at that time my profession would, at some point in time, help out with my avocation. The folks at this site are a pure amazement to me. Can't thank you enough.............. G.R.
P.S
You are absolutely right about the prices being better at gun shows. A H.F. hemostat can be bought at a gun show for about three to five dollars. A Dental Supply house gets three to four times that for the same article. A seconds Hygiene pick for about the same price here in River City. Please keep up the good work.
