Wanamacher Gun Show in Tulsa,Ok

Anyone been to one of these shows yet?...There is going to be one at the end of March and there's 4,000 tables at $100 a piece.I go to all of them but this will be the first one I been to looking for Makarovs.I have enough 64's so I'll be looking for other kinds.I'm usually into Smiths and Colts.I don't think I'll bring but maybe one 64 as there's enough out there and you can still get em under $200,,or even $150 probably.I'll let those that don't go know how much they're selling for.

I'll be there. Historically, i haven't found many P-64s there. There seems to be a lack of military surplus at the Wanenmacher shows. You should do well looking for Smiths and Colts. Last year I was looking for a Mak or a CZ82. I found 4 Maks, the least expensive was $250. Look me up when you get there and I'll show you what a nickel plated P-64 looks like. Later Don

Nicksterdemus, Yes, I had it done by a local in OKC for $75.00. The hardest part was taking it apart. I had to have help. If you would be nice to your brother-in-law in Tulsa I'd let you play with it. Later Don

I have a nickel P-64.I got it from a guy off the Gunboards"MagicDoc".He's a cool guy to do business with too.The guns were soaked in oil and sealed in a zip-lock and in a plastic gun tote box.I bought two at the same time from him....But only one was nickel.I think it was done in an electroless nickel solution, not a triple plate, but who cares as it wasn't like I was buying a presentaion piece.Nickel guns hold up better for semi carry purposes because they take quite a bit to wear off the nickel,,as in a blue gun,,,where just a few times into a leather holster will start to wear the sharp edges.

And electroless nickel the pores are smaller,so they'll actually take more solution cleanings. In the airline business,,which I'm into,,some of the exposed parts on airplanes that are for overseas duty get electoless, cause they'll stand up to the salt in the air over the ocean, much better then any other kind of plateing or anodizeing solutions.

I hope everyone knows they got to keep ammonia away from nickel or else you'll end up with the nickel plate delaminating.

That chrome finish sure is nice. I have a CZ52 with it. It makes the features of a gun stand out.

Norm: If you don't mind, how does the cost of hard chrome compare with the estimate of $70 quoted for the nickel plating? Which is more durable? They both look great, I remember seeing Magicdocs when he listed it for sale.

nickel plating comes off after time hard chrome plating becomes a part of the steel of the gun
and doesn't wear , that's one of the reasons the Russians hard chrome the bores of their guns and able to use steel bullets and corrosive ammo also its slicker against moving parts.
I had this 97 done back 1985 and still looks as good as the day I got it back from the platter
