Polish Iron V05 grips, road testing

Post by Ketchman »

Ok. Been carrrying now for awhile with Russ's V05 grips and I must say that they are extremely comfortable for me. I carry IWB and no shirt between me and the gun 99% of the time. The grips do not grind, bite, abrade, irritate or even nibble at me and repeated draw stroke practice has shown that they do not interfere in any way with my holster and my getting a good grip on the gun to complete the draw from concealment. They feel good in the hand and so far they seem to fit pretty well in many different size hands. They also do NOT stick to my clothing in any way.
On to the live fire excercise. Yesterday I took the gun out and put 100 rounds downrange and I cannot give Russ enough credit. These grips spread the recoil impulse out accross your palm enough that it seems reduced. Also the construction of the grips, being somewhat flexible may help by eating up some of the impulse. 100 rounds and my hand was no where near as sore as it would have been with stock grips. And there was no detectable shifting of the grips during fire.
In conclusion, the grips fit very well and for something that is so easy to fit to a gun with the recoil impulse that this one does it is amazing it neither shifts under recoil but it also helps lessen the hammering your hand takes and the grip just plain looks good. What more could be asked for. I had a friend with me who has shot my P-64 before this and had commented on the fact that the gun was not only very easy to conceal, seemed very well made but let you know you were shooting a real live gun  (read "this thing kicks!"). After shooting it yesterday he looked at me and asked where he could get the grips AND a P-64.
Russ sir-, these grips are a bases loaded, bottom of the 9th inning, game 7 of the World Series home run.
To anyone reading this, if you have a P-64 you need these grips. Attached are pics of my carry rig showing the grips clear of the leather.

"Russ sir-, these grips are a bases loaded, bottom of the 9th inning, game 7 of the World Series home run. "

I'll second that!

I let two people test fire my P-64 at the range last week, and the only negative comment they had was about the tiny sights. That after I sent another 50 rounds downrange with no "buzz" in my hand at all.

Thanks Curly but I must thank Russ for making these grips that led to that review. And I will report later on as the test continues to see if any problems pop up as time goes by.

Right oh on Russ making them. Holster is by Outbags. Very easy to find on Amazon, look for " Outbags P-64 leather holster" and it should pop right up. $26.00+ shipping when I got mine.

Question: are these grips any wider than the factory black plastic grips?

Yes they are wider. But not so much that it seriously affects the concealability. But your hands will thank you seroiusly every time you fire the little beastie.

I was part of the product test team and everything I got was pre-production sample. Go here to find out what the cost is.

I can't say anything more than what has been said. These grips work great.

Having just fired my own little beast for the first time a couple of nights ago I can say that there is a built in demand for AM grips such as these. I look forward to hearing from Russ about them.

One of the first things I did was install these grips. Fired 100 rounds on my first outing with my little beast and my hand was fine. Love these grips!

Do these increase the front to back width of the grip over the stock plastic ones? As it is, because of my tiny hands, I have a bit of a tough time reaching the trigger, and as such could not afford a much larger grip.
