A few weeks ago I ordered 2 P64s from Century. One of them was a parts gun sold and the other was a training gun. I was originally going to use the parts gun to restore the Training gun but the finish on the parts gun was so nice and it was only missing the grip screw and nut so I decided to keep it and use the grip screw and nut from the training gun on it. So now I ordered a second parts gun to use for the restoration of the training gun.
While I wait for the new parts gun to arrive I thought I would start a log of my restoration of the training gun. Here is a picture of how the training gun looked when I got it.

As you can see in the picture the barrel and frame have a hole cut in them at the chamber. The slide has the word SZKOLNY (SCHOOL) engraved into it and the firing pin hole has been welded shut. The firing pin has also been shortened bu about 1/2 an inch.
I began by striping the slide and drilling out the weld in the firing pin hole. I used a 3/32" drill bit and a hand drill. Here is a picture of the new hole.

Next I cleaned all the red paint off the slide, grips and magazine. The grips cleaned up nicely.

After working on the slide and grips I stripped the rest of the parts off of the frame and removed the barrel

The barrel tapped out easily once the retaining pin was removed.
Here are some closeups of the holes in the frame and barrel

Once the new parts gun arrives I am going to use the barrel and firing pin to complete the restoration.

Re: P64 Training gun restoration
I the parts gun I was waiting for has arived. I had a delay because someone in the warehouse thought that the P64 was not a C&R gun
I removed the barrel from the donor gun and am going to install it in the frame this weekend. I will post photos after I'm done.
PS: If anyone is interested I am selling the extra parts on here

Re: P64 Training gun restoration
I put a few rounds down range last weekend. Gun worked great now I just need to have someone weld the hole in the frame closed to give it more strength.
