WIFE'S P-64 IS KAPUT.

Post by spamby »

Well took the wife to the range to shoot her P-64 and she had a bad round and when she fired the next round it was all over. No one was hurt but I think the pistol is done. Haven't tried to disassemble it yet, any solutions or is it now a parts gun for my P-64. The only good thing is she wants another P-64.

Oh and its stuck in the position thats in the photo.

Glad no one was hurt.

What brand of ammo where you using?

Looks like you have extra parts for the new one when it comes and that's not a bad thing.

Not real sure of the brand. I talked a buddy into getting a P-64 and he ordered some hollow points off of aimsurplus and I traded him some regular rounds for the hollow points. I am going to ask him what brand they were since he hasn't shot any of them yet.

I agree on the spare parts but I've already got my own. The one she has was suppost to be mine but when it got to the house she claimed it for her ccw. And if mamma ain't happy ain't no one happy. So I ordered mine later on. But she's getting another one, just don't know when.

You can cut the barrel from the inside or gentally tap the slipe off. Then if you can find a new barrel your set to go.

That would be great to find a replacement barrel. I will start looking for one. Thanks for the info. I didn't know I could do that, I thought with the barrel broke that I was done. Will have to carefully disassemble and take a more detailed look. Has anyone replaced a barrel before and difficult is it to do?

The barrel is pinned to the frame so it shouldn't be too hard to remove. Finding a barrel will be the fun part.

If you go here and do a search you will find lots of info on how to remove the barrel. These are for a Makarov but will also work with the 64.

They called that a "pop and no kick" in basic training- don't pull the trigger again! Glad no body got hurt. I can't see the pict but you maybe able to part it out and recoup your investment as spare parts aren't easy to come by on these pistols yet.

The only idea I have is to try Centerfire Systems. It kind of sucks, but you could buy a P-64 gunsmith special for $80 but by the time you pay for shipping and a FFL transfer fee, I think it would be a ripoff.

You may look into doing like MakAttack suggested and part it out. You may even find someone on here that has a barrel but to my knowledge the barrel is not available by itself. Sorry to see this happened. I'm glad your wife isn't turned away because this happened.
