The P-64 is not a competition sort of handgun. Shooting one makes you a better shot, like owning a snub nosed revolver makes you a better shot. A short sight radius makes you think hard about taking a shot. The stout DA trigger and the heavy recoil, make you learn to make each shot count.

I usually carry an LCP because of its tiny size. I bought my P-64 by "mistake". I kept it because it resembles James Bond's PPK, only it's more powerful than any PPK and cooler since it came from the Eastern Bloc.

bkoperski, I got my P-83 at Southern Ohio Gun for $179. They list as very good to excellent condition but mine come in looking unfired. Please note they are not C&R so you will need to include the cost of a FFL transfer,

Needless to say I would recommend getting both the P-64 & P-83 if funds permit. (and a CZ-82 as well)

Have 4 of these pistols, each one will produce a ragged hole easily tearing out the bullseye at 25 feet after 20 rounds using Silver Bear JHP ammo. The sights are not the best, but are usable. The fixed barrel must have something to do with the accuracy.

I have found mine to be surprisingly accurate. It whoops the crap out of my ruger p94 as far as accuracy goes. I like the fixed barrel, and the consistency of where the bullet goes is very nice. I can shoot 200 rounds through my p64 no problem, just takes a bit to get used to the recoil if your used to heavier handguns.

It could be me who does not have the years of experience as many do -- the P-64 is my first handgun -- but I do not think the trigger is too heavy or the recoil is that bad. I will say shotting it single handed feels better and more accurate to me somehow, but I am told to practice holding it in front of me with both hands.

That said, the most I have ever fired it at one time was 60-70 rounds.

For those who want to see what recoil feels like, try a Nagant carbine. I hate to fire that thing, and am glad it is not mine. It does make a really cool fireball though.

I agree, the carbine is really uncomfortable. I wasn't accurate at all with mine and ended up giving it away.

The P64 has an uncomfortable recoil for a handgun, particularly when using the stock grips. It becomes a lot more comfortable with replacement grips or a rubber sleeve such as a limbsaver or hogue.

Most I can do with a P-64 is about fifty rounds at a clip. The darned thing is hard on my hands.

I'm growing used to the heavy trigger pull. I guess that the fingers grow stronger if they're made to rise to the occasion.
