It has occured to me that a slide release button would be a fairly simple thing to fabricate (ala the original prototype).
Has anyone done this before?

Not that I'm aware of. I can't think of it being a lever of any sort on it's own. I would think you'd almost want to fabricate a slide stop lever with a thumb piece for external use. You'd then have to modify the slide some. There could be another way that I'm not thinking. This is just what came to mind.

I'm thinking of purchasing a spare slide stop lever and adding an external button to it. I think a whole spare p64 might even be nice.
I've also been kicking around rebarreling one with a longer barrel and a ported compensator.
