New Owner Question
I recently received my P-64 and I plan on shooting it tomorrow. I noticed while cleaning/changing springs that the DA trigger pull with the slide off the frame is very different than with the slide on the gun. It seems to me that the hammer travels farther with the slide off. Is this normal? I have cleaned my pistol very well, I'm just curious if I need to clean a certain component in the slide more thoroughly. Thanks in advance for the info!

Re: New Owner Question
You mean, no slide and the hammer travels forward further? Of course it does, it has no slide/fp to slam against. I hope for your sake that you aren't letting the hammer drop without the slide in place. This is a no-no!

Re: New Owner Question
Thanks! I was talking about the hammer going further to the rear. I was/am unaware that pulling the trigger without the slide was a no-no! I guess I just need to handle another P-64 to see what the double action trigger pull is supposed to feel like. The SA trigger pull is wonderful, but the DA trigger pull seems odd, even with an 18# hammer spring. In DA, the hammer maybe traveles 1/3 of the way to the rear.

Re: New Owner Question
The hammer doesn't go the distance in DA as it does in SA because of the location of the hooks. Normal operation.
