P-64 trigger slap. <update>

Post by gwbiker »

Getting to be a problem with my 1973 P-64, while it's not even an issue with my 1960 GDR 9x18 Makarov - same calibur, same ammo.

Any ideas on how to reduce trigger slap on the P-64?

When I first started shooting my P-64, I was prepared for the sharp recoil and pain to the web of my thumb since I had read all the comments. I find, however, that my trigger finger gets much more abuse than any other part of my hand. After shooting about 3 magazines worth, I need a break. I think its the left corner of the trigger digging in as the gun recoils up.

I tried some trigger work on my P-64, hoping to reduce the trigger slap I'm experiencing. No luck.

So, after two years of OC/CC, my 1973 P-64 goes to the gun show this weekend with F/S sign attached. :(

The soft recoil felt resulting from the after market Pearce rubber grip on my recently obtained GDR 9x18 Makarov 8+1 has spoiled me. It will now be my daily carry.

Interesting to note, mine is a 1973 also...coincidence?

Normal 9x18 shooting session as follows:

Three magazines through the p-64 followed by two boxes through the Bulgy Mak!!!
