New to me Ruger Blackhawk 41Mag

Post by smbob »

I just got this today. A 4 5/8" new model Ruger Blackhawk 41Mag. It is in
fantastic shape. It looks like the previous owner only fired a few rounds
down the pipe and put it up. Hardly a drag line on the cylinder. I have
a 6.5" 41Mag Blackhawk already, but I much prefer the shorter 4 5/8"
version. I put a set of Hogue pau ferro finger groove grips on it. I
know a lot of single action purists really frown on this. The original
grips are way too small for me and don't feel comfortable to shoot with.
Hey, if the factory grips work well for you, then God bless you.

Robert; Nice looking revolver! I have always had a soft spot for Blackhawks. I have several in 4 5/8" and even a 4" Bowen. Mine are all working guns. I have taken everything from moose and bear to woodchucks with them. I find that size to be well balanced and they make dandy little guns for a walk in the woods. On the grips, to each his own. If you like them then that's all that counts.

Thanks Farmer. That 4 5/8" barrel does balance real nice. I have a feeling
this one is going to be a real good shooter. The 41Mag is a hard hitting
round with reasonable recoil. I just shoot cast bullets in mine with Unique
or 2400. If I were to get another Blackhawk it would be a 45 Long Colt.
