Changing Re-coil spring!
Changing Re-coil spring!
I'm a happy new owner of a P-64. Ordered a 22# re-coil spring from Wolff and tried to change it out. The slide will not re-attach to the frame. I made sure the smaller end went on first. After a few unsuccessfull tries, I gave up and put the stock spring back on. Is this spring to heavy? Anyone else experience this problem? Thanks
Re: Changing Re-coil spring!
Look at the ends of the new spring and the factory ones. The factory coil at the tip is beveled to a sharp point, while the wolff springs are round all of the way to the end.
bevel your wolff spring and it everything will fit together fine. I had to do the same thing.
I used a dremmel with a smoothing stone to do mine.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that!

Re: Changing Re-coil spring!
I had the same problem today when I tried to install a new Wolff spring on mine. I'm just going to wait till Monday where I can use a grinder at my shop and flatten down the ends of the coils. I'm a little surprised this needs to be done; usually Wolff springs fit perfectly and without trouble.
