Cleaning

Post by 6x6pinz »

I use Breakfree CLP on all my guns. Have never had an issue with it and don't expect that to change. I just finished the CCW class this weekend and used my P64 to qualify, instructor was impressed with the unique pistol. I know many don't like the combination solvent/cleaners but they work well on guns that are used often and cleaned up regularyly. If you don't clean often and don't shoot at least once a week then a seperate solvent oil would be better.
A simple test for any oil choice would be to smear a small amount on some steel and let it set, if it gets tacky after a couple of weeks I would look for another option. Many different types of oil will get thicker or tacky after sitting exposed to air. This could cause the gun to malfunction.
