If you didn't have to skip your mortgage payment to pay for it, and you like the pistol, then you did good.

I love a bargain, but sometimes I feel that people put too much emphasis on how much they paid for something compared to what someone else paid. Are you excited about your P-64? If so, you did good. Did you pay $10 more than someone else? So what. You STILL did good. You made a purchase of a quality pistol that will give you pleasure and protection once you learn how to use it. It is always possible to find someone who paid less.

You did good.

bfleming, I didn't intend to say that you didn't know how to use the pistol. I just meant that (in my opinion) it's not worth having ANY pistol UNTIL the owner knows how to use it. Once that happens, then any firearm you enjoy is worth having.

I paid $164 + shipping, and FFL fee for my P-64 last summer. I have heard of them being sold for $200+. Based on what I have seen around, at $179 for a "like new" pistol, you got a good deal.

And you are definitely at the right web site for making the most of your latest (and first) European mil-surplus firearm. Many of the contributors here know a lot about the P-64 (and other firearms) and are very helpful when answering questions.

bfleming,
I'd say you did good. I gave $165 over a year ago at a gun shop. Now and then one pops up for maybe $20 less but if you got a like new P-64 for $179 you did'nt overpay. I was able to get a couple of unissued original magazines for $10 each at SOG (Southern Ohio Gun) but they have long been sold out and I don't see originals for sale anymore. Aftermarket ones are available though. I have a round hammer 1968 and it seems to get better the more I fire it.

The cost doesn't matter. I paid 200 for a round hammer with zee grips and I wouldn't sell it for 300. If I want something, then I don't do a lot of shopping, I see it, like it & it goes home with me. BYW, you got a great deal, they can't be found in my area of Tenn now.
