Got Myself a New Project

Post by Duo_Z »

Hey everyone, I bought myself a new project. A Rodom Vis 35. It needs a good amount of work. But I will keep you updated. On a side note, does anyone know of a good forum for the Vis? Pictures will come tomorrow. But just for reference here is a pic.

That's one that I have never been able to get hold of. Very interesting, and I hear well made, excellent pistol. I met a Polish gentleman at an OGCA show who had a whole collection of Radoms. I don't know how many, but it was at the display show and he had a whole wall full. He said that he got interested when his father buried one, wrapped in an oil rag, in their garden during WWII. I'll watch for your posts as you get it "ready to go". Congrats!!

I have a slide and a frame. The goal is to make every other part for it. The idea is to try to find parts to replicate. Barrow them or buy them, something like that.

Wow so you need all the parts for the slide and frame.
Repro grips are available.

Try Luger Doc over on the Luger forum he may have some of the parts.
I know at one point he had new manufacture recoil spring and guides made up but they were going for around $120

I know wolf make a whole spring kit for it I'll be buying. I saw the grips, but I figured I would make those too. I'll try contacting Luger Doc. I've wanted one of these for awhile, so this is fun. Though inspired by the 1911 the frame seems to be less complicated. For giggles I might try making that and the slide too. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Thanks for the info.

The recoil spring system is interesting with the plunger.

Jacks parts sells the little dumbell pin that holds the plunger in the spring guide.

I ordered one as a spare $15 a few years ago for the part and they charged $10 for shipping which was a bone job but if you lose that pin you are out of bidness.

They may also have other parts you need.

So I've been getting a little bit done. Here are two pieces, the mag release and main spring housing, 3D printed for test fitting. I found a main spring housing to measure, and the mag release was done completely from pictures and measurement from the frame. Both could use a little tweaking, but I have no doubt they would function just fine as they are now. Its more for my own satisfaction.
