Blackhorn 209 Blackpowder Shooters

Post by juniustaylor »

Any of you out there used Blackhorn 209 in your inline muzzleloaders? If so, does it out-perform Hodgdon Triple 7? I've been using Triple 7 for some time now and don't really have any qualms with it, it has always gone boom. Cleanup is done using water or ammonia, like Windex. However, the folks at Blackhorn say that is a bad thing because it would mean that Triple 7 is water soluable and as such can draw moisture in the barrel. I have left my inline sit for about a week before I cleaned it after shooting and never saw a speck of rust. One real nice benefit I did read is that folks say cleanup with this stuff is easy. You just clean it like a regular gun as the soot is very fine and just like regular smokeless powder fouling. So you can stuff bullets down the barrel practically all day and never have to swab between so many shots. Just looking for opinions. Thanks.
