Turk Mausers... any good?

Post by juniustaylor »

There's one at the local gunstore, saw it this evening. The price tag is $185 I think. Wood was in real good shape. Overall condition of the steel was fair, pretty much all the bluing is gone but it's not rusted in any way. Bore is MINT. Anyway, just want to know if it would be a good rifle to get. I have always wanted a Mauser but never have the money for a German made one. Looking for opinions. I didn't pay attention to the date on the receiver... I just saw it had the Turk stamp on it and other markings.

Are they worth going after? And I know they used to be cheap, just like most everything else :(.

Turks are good Mausers , I have a 1943 K Kale that has the slickest action of any of the other Mausers I own. $185 seems a bit steep to my, but I bought mine a few years ago for under $100. Go over to Surplusrifleforum.com and they have an entire section on the Turks that will overwhelm you with info.
