I love Star pistols! I used to own a Star PD 45 auto. I kick myself every
day for getting rid of it! Not one of the smarter things I have done.
A while back I was able to pick up a Star Super Modelo A 9mm Largo.
It is a Spanish Air Force model. I wish the bore was in better shape.
It is still fun to shoot though.

Re: Star Super Modelo A
Nice pistol, our bores look like a bad gravel road but the damn things shoot great...
BTW, I believe you have a Star Modelo A as opposed to a Super. What called my attention to this was the lack of the take-down lever on the right side above the trigger guard. Both are excellent pistols and were made until the 80's I believe.
There were 8 changes made to the basic pistol designs to make them Super models.
1. addition of a loaded chamber indicator
2. addition of a full magazine indicator in the magazine
3. sights were changed by the addition of white inlay to improve target acquisition in low light
4. recoil spring was made captive on the spring guide
5. swinging barrel link (M1911 style) was replaced with a cam system (Browning Hi-Power style)
6. addition of a quick takedown lever to the right side
7. magazine safety was changed
8. trigger system was changed

You are right Kilogulf59. Thanks for the correction. I have only shot the
Spanish FMJ non corrosive surplus ammo through it. I really need to get
some Starline brass and some cast bullets and reload for it. I'm pretty
sure I could get it shooting better. I really love Star pistols. I wish
they were all on the C&R list. If they were I would own as many of them as I could.
