Can someone comment on these? I noticed that there are good deals out there on these guns. Also, ammo is CHEAP.

They look kind of weird, but have that Eastern Bloc / Soviet nostalgia to them.

Does the 7.62 x 25 round have a lot of recoil? Is the gun reliable and accurate?

If there is a forum dedicated to these guns, please let me know.

I love my TTC!.
Recoil is negligeable. Accuracy is great...even out to 75yds. Makes a great woods pistol or car pistol. Ammo is cheap.

I think you can get them chambered in luger if you want to go on a treasure hunt for ammo.

I have a nearly brand new Romanian TT-33. All matching serial numbers. Made in 1953. The only thing wrong was on initial cleaning, the barrel bushing would not rotate loose, it was brand new, had to use a wooden dowel to tap it off. Found burrs on the mating surface's, could feel them, and see them, they were from machining, area's on the bushing, in the locking lugs, and where it meets the slide frame. Finally polished it out, tried it again, burrs are gone STILL NO JOY, should rotate easily. Got it apart again, really started looking at the bushing. Took a metal straight edge to the bushing, facing the lower recoil spring detent hole found that the surface was canted down to the right, in other words slightly twisted. How to fix?? Well, I have a shop vise, have to 1/4" alum plates for the jaws surfaces. Used that to straighten the bushing by merely tightening the vise, worked like a champ. Re-checked with a straight edge, was as good as I could make it. Bushing is still a little tighter that it needs to be, but rotates to finger pressure. Now, all I have to do is blue the polished area on the bushing. The pistol functions great, is accurate. I've already burned through 400rds. for $199.00 from J&G a great buy. Thinking of buying two more spam cans of ammo and another TT-33.

A nice day at the gun range test firing a Romanian Tokarev 7.62x25mm handgun (a cal. comparable to a 30-30 carbine round in a pistol). Nice and powerful blaster that shoots milsurp ammo that travels anywhere from 1350-1750 fps. I would put that up against any 45 cal handgun myself. I was looking to get another "bear gun" with all the recent nusiance bears and bear attacks. So a nifty Tokarev for about $200 and 1248 rounds of Romanian surplus ammo for $130 fit the bill.

Top: Tokarev at 25 yards - Bottom at 35 yards.

I usually carry one into Yellowstone NP and Glacier NP when hiking and camping in the back country. A couple close calls over the years with bear and moose.

Over all, a very nice gun that lets out a "crack" when fired and a foot long fireball in low light conditions. Others at the range tend to move off when this firarms throws bullets down-range.

blackblade, what are you using for a holster?? Do you have anything in leather. Cordura is o'k, but I like leather. I'd also like a leather dual mag carrier. I think a 7.62x25 military ball would provide enough punch for a hog's skull. I'd like to carry it while bow hunting deer and as a regular field piece. If something happens to it, I won't lose a mint.

I'm having a leather one made for the Tokarevs (Private i)

If I like it then I will have one made for a Makarov and another for CZ-82. I already have a nice leather one made for the P-64 by our Dick Funk (US Gunleather). I'm rushed getting everythinbg done in the next couple months as I may be relocating to a longterm project in SW Pennsylvania and will be taking only half a dozen handguns and caching the rest.

blackblade, I have a left handed holster, and a dual mag carrier in dark brown for the P-64. A classy rig made by Dickfunk . Just found out I.O has left and right handed quick draw holsters for the TTC-33, russian make. I'm going to order one tom. DickFunk does good work.

I find that a web GI dual mag pouch for the 1911 fits the Tokarev magazine very well.
I just checked I.O.'s website...the holster they are selling is Austrian made, not Russian. They say it was made for the Browning Hi Power "but it will fit the Tokarev". Cheap at $4.95.
Might get one, as I have a Hi Power too. I have heard that the Tok fits many Hi Power holsters.
Blackblade, which cordura holster is that, and does it fit well? I have been looking online at those, but there are many different similar ones in different sizes.
I have been pondering this Russian Tok holster on EBAY...Looks interesting...:

That holster in the picture is a Bulldog ("Fusion"?). I don't recall the size but the sticker inside has printed FSN 7. They are listed by bbl length so I probably went with one listed for a 1911 bbl length.

Great pistols. I own 3 TT-33s, 2 Romanian and a Polish. They are hands down my favorite range gun, just plain fun to shoot, either targets or just plinking. IMHO one of the best milsurp handgun deals (along w/ the P-64) in todays market. Lots of quality cheap ammo out there, around .12 cents per rnd. There's even Wolf Gold 85grn copper JHP available.

I did a spray on refinish on one of my TTCs, and while i had it down, went ahead and made some custom Claro walnut grips for it. Removed the lanyard loop and import safety, but kept the parts to return to original if needed.

First time out to the range with it at 25yds.
Trifocals and iron sights, not a good combo. ::)

Dom, it's real nice. Is that a Duracoat finish? Don't worry about the specs, I'd say that target is toast.

Thanks Rick,
The spray on finish is Dupli-Color high temp. engine paint.
http://www.duplicolor.com/products/engine.html

I learned about it on one of the Glock Talk forums:
http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=802258

My prep work was mostly a hand sanding w/ 240 grit paper, a good soaking in Mineral Spirits, compressed air, and a final bath in acetone and hung to dry. 2 light tack coats, dried each time w/ a low temp. heat gun, followed by 1 heavier final coat. Baked at 275 deg. for 2 hrs.
Work in progress, excuse the mess:

Brownells also sells their No Bake spray on finish, Aluma-HydeII.
I'm thinking about trying it on one of my CZ-82s.
Their online tutorial videos were very helpful in giving me the confidence to pull it off.
