+1 - This is IMPERATIVE! The originals that came with the guns are ground flat - check it. If the spring is NOT ground flat it will be difficult to impossible to remove the slide as you go up in spring weight. So far, most have not reported much difference in felt recoil between springs. I used 20# springs because I had a couple of out of battery issues that that extra 2# remedied. Recoil? nothing.

I went back to the stock recoil spring myself as I was having issues with the mags unseating on the last round.
