Greetings everyone!

Post by trun »

Just went to the range today, first time firing my new little Polish lover. 5 mags through it and oh my god. I love this friggen gun.

Recoil is great, of course i have swapped the springs.

I'm amazingly impressed with this firearm. Cheap and accurate as no other.

just wish the ammo wasn't like liquid gold to find locally.

Welcome to the forums.

You can get the ammo online for decent prices in volume.

A question. do I need to install that new firing pin spring that came with the new recoil spring? the gun seems to work fine without the new firing pin spring.

Trun, it is not necessary to change the firing pin spring out with the one that came with the extra power recoil spring. The only purpose the new firing pin spring does is helps get the firing pin retracted into the bolt face faster. It has NOTHING to do with "slam fires" or anything of the sort. The firing pin is NOT going to lurch forward due to "extra force" with the new recoil spring.

Mine works fine w/o the it installed also.

Now if you start seeing drag marks on the primer from the firing pin you may want to install it.

Does anyone have a picture showing an example of these drag marks?

Drag marks should be easy to identify. If you look at the back of a spent casing on the primer you should see a nice circular dimple where the pin struck. If that dimple starts to look out of shape like the fire pins was pulled across the primer that is when you'd switch the firing pin spring.

I've never seen it on any of my brass, but I have seen it on a few 10mm casings I picked up at a range once.

Here is a picture on some 9mm Luger cases. These look really bad in my opinion. Often times it's just a little mark on one side of the dimple. These are like huge gouges.

Does the frame pin that holds in the trigger often jump out of place when working on this pistol? I had happened to pick mine up last night, and noticed the pin had popped out and rotated 180 degrees. I had to remove the slide, rotate the pin, and pop it back in.

Hasn't happened on mine. The slide is supposed to keep the pin from coming out at all and certainly not rotate. Interesting...

hasn't happened again, so maybe it popped out before I put the slide on that time, and I just didn't notice it.

Pulling the trigger with the slide off can cause the trigger pin to work out.
If the slide does not go back on easy as pie I am either not holding my mouth right or the trigger pin is not seated in its U cut out. Yes, it is possible to install the slide with the trigger pin out of place. I always try to remember to give the pin a quick visual check everytime before I reinstall the slide. There is another--when wondering "what the **** " and the slide would not go back on easily, I had inserted a mag.
