Magazine Modification

Post by kilogulf59 »

OK, has anyone modified a P-64 magazine to hold 7-rounds? I noticed on my two that a seventh round will almost fit and there room at the bottom. Perhaps modify the spring a bit, it does seem stiff enough to handle a touch of shortening...

I have always found that when the designers specification are exceeded the margin of error is equally extended. There just is no such thing as a free puppy either.

OK...after reading the material...six it is. The reason I did ask though is that that 7th round almost makes it...so close, yet so far...

Thanks for the assist here gents, that's why I love this place.

The magazine box is the weakest part of any auto loading pistol and the most neglected as well. Have you tuned your mag springs yet by giving them a light going over with some 800 wet/dry sand paper yet? You will be amazed what this will prevent. You can also touch up the recoil spring the same way. Springs get small burrs from flexing and smoothing them out can make a difference as I found out in Vietnam.
