Hi I just joined after getting shortly after getting my first p64 11/10/16. I've had my eye on a p64 for a while just didn't have any spare cash. Turned out to be for the best as I found 1 for about $130. Cheaper than the one as had my eye on. The one I bought was made in 1975. Anything special I need to know or look for?
Thanks,
Ray

Welcome to the forum Ray.

Take it to the range and see how the recoil and trigger pull is for you before deciding to change out any springs.

Give it a good cleaning and lube first. Let us know how she shoots.

I took it to the range yesterday it shoots fine. I was quite surprised with the accuracy out of these all eyes. I did kind of committed a rookie mistake and wound up with that little bit of slide bite. The triger pull on single action is extremely light. Double action not so much . Recoil is fine I would like to get wood grips but these things take time. I've already got a feeling if these things could become habit-forming as now I'm looking for a Makarov Bulgarian a Russian or East German it really doesn't matter to me I'm not a collector I'm just a shooter. I would also like to find the best source for ammo

poppy welcome to The Brotherhood. And yes, you suspected correctly about these being addictive. As far as ammo, check your online sources such as Sportsmansguide (my personal fave), Cheaper Than Dirt, Ammo to Go, Classic Arms, Aim Surplus and a bunch of others. They all will all run specials from time to time on 9mm Mak. As far as grips go make sure you check out Polish Irons V. 5 grips. They are the bomb! And they are made by one of the Brotherhood here and he does a first rate job. Just search the site for grips or V.5 grips and you will find them. And very good price too.

New to the forum and to the P64 too. I just picked one up today. I located a CZ82 that I'll buy in a couple of days as well. This is my first time 9x18mm Makarov guns. All of my other guns use 9mm Luger ammo. I'm sure I'll have some questions as I get into the P64 more. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute some too.

Drec, welcome to the Brotherhood. And you will find the CZ to be a very nice gun both to carry and even better to shoot. A tad bit heavier and bulkier than the P-64 but every bit as addictive. Range report please and pics if you can.
