Mine was the same way. 18lb hammer and 20lb recoil smoothed it out beautifully.

The $99.95 special is a thing of the past. My buddy at work called on Saturday to try and order a couple and was told they are sold out with no indiciation of if they will ever get any more in. Another good buy bites the dust.

Nice work Tripper. For cosmoline on metal, I've always just used plain spray carb cleaner. Do it outside because it is wickedly toxic stuff, but it will clean cosmoline just fine. Just make sure you remove any rubber or plastic parts/grips. I use compressed air to blow it off after cleaning.
