Re: Hornady XTP Reliability
My P-64 will not chamber Hornady hollowpoints at all. I would not buy more than one box till I tried them out.

Problem with P64
My P64 did the same thing but cleaning will definitely help. It was extremely hard for me to get it back together after putting on the heavier recoil spring. Try compressing the spring a few times to loosen it up. My P64 also does not like steel ammo. Yours will probably cycle brass a lot better. Th...

Actually I did the same thing to my PA-63. The more you work the spring the easier it gets to put it back together so don't be discouraged. It may be harder to put back together but it sure tames that recoil. The heavier spring and the Handall Jr. grip make shooting the 63 go from a beast to a kitty...

feeding issues
I am experiencing some jams when I put a new magazine in with the slide open and rack the slide. I don't have any problems when the slide is closed and I rack in a new round. I also don't have any issues with a new round feeding after a shot. I think that all I really need to do is polish the feed r...

ammo for home protection?
The Hornadys will not chamber in my P-64. I have some pow'r ball for the P-64. I would have to agree with Norm though for home defense nothing beats a 12 guage pump with a 18.5" barrell. You don't have to aim as carefully and no one talks about one shot stops in relation to a 12 guage. For conc...

Mine will do it occassionally with brass too. It has gotten better the more rounds I put through it. How did you deburr that. With fine sand paper or emory cloth? Let me know and I will try that with mine.

The PA-63 and P-64 magazines are different. They are not interchangeable.

Dry fire P64
Dry firing in general is not good for guns. If possible you should use snap caps. It is not as bad for a P-64 as it would be for something with a brittle firing pin like a CZ-52. Since you cannot get P-64 parts, I would not dry fire a lot of times. I know people who have dry fired a lot of times and...

My P-64 doesn't like steel case ammo. The slide will not come all the way back sometimes. It comes to with 1/4" and stops. This means the trigger doesn't reset. It doesn't do that with brass ammo. My PA-63 doesn't care. I was wondering anyone else had experience this problem with steel ammo. I ...

Ammo Comparisons
My P-64 doesn't like steel ammo. The Silver Bear feeds very well in my PA-63 but tends to cause my slide not to come all the way back in the P-64 and thus the trigger doesn't reset. Usually this is on the first shot but as the gun gets warmed up more rounds don't feed right. I am not using steel in ...

try going to the CZ-52 page on makarov.com and see what they say. The after market should just drop in. The procedure is on the CZ-52 page and there may be some more links. Markov is out of business but the last time I checked the website was still up. There are some companies that used to make drop...

No P64!
I find that 50 rounds is more than enough, most times. The heavier recoil spring and Hogue Handall Jr. grip don't have as much of an effect as they do with the PA-63. I also believe the P-64 is more of a concealed carry gun than a plinker. I am fortunate in having relative small hands. I believe rub...
