Alumahide, has any one used it?

GR, Brownells has 2 versions of Aluma-Hyde. Aluma-Hyde is for aluminum and alloy use. Aluma-Hyde II is for use on steel. I have used Aluma-Hyde II on a few AK builds. It has been a trouble free finish. It has not been affected by cleaners or lubes as advertised. You need to be patient with it as it ...

Well, it happened to me

I broke a left thumbrest grip in the same place as yours.
It wasn't overtightened either.
It was a good excuse to get a flat panel replacement.

Dry fire P64

Snap caps will work well for limiting firing pin movement but will do nothing to protect the safety. The P-64 examples I've seen have inertia firing pins. The hammer impact on the safety is the same chamber loaded or not.

Mec-Gar Magazines

It's very unlikely the market is big enough to make it worthwhile. There are manufacturers out there that will make anything you desire if you're willing to pay the price. There is an aftermarket copy of the factory magazine out there already.....they should have made it 7 rounds. An easier way to y...

Mec-Gar Magazines

The market for P-64 mags is small but you can contact Mecgar and tell them what you want. If they're interested they will give you a price for a run of magazines. The price will include design and tooling. The more they make the cheaper they will be. Then come up with the finances to have them produ...

How to carry...

If he were referring to how he carries his CZ-82, "6+1" would be a magazine at half capacity. This is surely possible though. In addition, some have posted here in reference to the "3 position safety" on their P-64. Finding a position in between "safe" and "fire&qu...

How to carry...

cz82luvr,
How do you manage to carry a P-64 hammer cocked, safety on?
The safety is a decocker. If you cock the hammer and apply the safety (decocker) it will drop the hammer.
If your P-64 works otherwise you have a malfunction.

Good leather pancake holster for p64?

Looks like dickfunk is making some nice holsters. But I would also like to find a pancake with a thumb break.

Glock pistols

Glocks are the original cheap plastic pistols. They are popular with police departments for budget reasons. That said, they are reliable, accurate and light. The only downside I see is the safety aspects of Glocks. The 'tripple safe action" is BS. Yes you have to pull the trigger but there is n...

Kel-tec 2000 carbine in 40 s&w

If you cast your own bullets from free lead (wheel weights or lead from the bunkers at the range), the 9 mm and the 40 S&W can be loaded for 4 to 6 cents a round.

Kel-tec 2000 carbine in 40 s&w

I don't have a Sub 2000 but I've been looking at them recently. Vance's in Columbus, OH had the 9 mm version last month for $300 ( www.vanceoutdoors.com ). I have a Beretta CX-4 carbine in 40 S&W that has been great. The pistol caliber carbines work well out to 100 yards. I doubt you will regret...

FLAT BOTTOM MAGAZINE

I prefer the flat bottom as well.
I cut one mag base leaving it 1/8" thick. Pocket carry is much better. No issues removing the mag.
Of course my pinky is below the grip but it isn't a problem.

Spring questions

ern,
A heavier recoil spring will make it more difficult to manipulate the slide. I find the 20 lb spring a good compromise.
Thumbing the hammer back (cocking) first will make slide operation a bit easier.

Taurus PT145

I have nothing but positive comments about my PT-111 9mm titanium. First generation DAO. Never any malfunctions.
I also carry it safety off......just like the P-64.
