Re: Hammer spring poundage
If the hammer spring is too light the magazine will drop out, usually on the last round, because the spring also provides tension for the magazine release. I suggest you buy the 3 spring calibration pack and see what works best for your gun. I use the lightest spring that still holds the magazine in...

Re: magazine failure during firing.
Guess I should have mentioned that I moved up to a 19 lbs spring and it works great.

Re: magazine failure during firing.
Mine ejects the magazine on the last round consistently with an 18 lbs hammer spring.

Re: E.G. Makarov?
Main difference on mine is the trigger. The bulgy took a lot of shooting and some stone work to get the trigger close to the D.D.R's

Re: E.G. Makarov?
Fit and finish is nicer on the D.D.R. and they obviously have more collector value. For a shooter / CCW piece the Bulgarian is every bit as good -- They just take a little breaking in. I find that I carry my Bulgarian or one of my Polish guns (p64/p83) daily while the D.D.R. Makarov pulls home defen...

Re: Finally bought a Radom P-83
First trip to the range -- P-83 is a blast to shoot, I wish I'd have brought more rounds of 9x18 to the range. Trigger is decent in both single and double action and the recoil is very mild. It is smoother (although a bit spongy) and breaks cleaner than both my Bulgy and DDR Makarovs. The P-64's tri...

Re: Baikal Makarov..
do they look like these: http://www.buymilsurp.com/grip-east-german-makarov-pistol-used-original-military-p-7534.html?zenid=ad0526b9c4a706ac2040e83b33b15f75 If so they are original issue East German grips. If not post a picture and someone will be able to identify them. BTW: East German grips are my...

Re: P-83 Decocker and Trigger Reset
Hangfire, awesome thanks!
Seems a little odd but happy to know my pistol is functioning as designed.

P-83 Decocker and Trigger Reset
Question for P-83 owners. When you Decock your pistol does the trigger reset only after taking the gun back off of Safe? Or, does it work similar to a Makarov and reset the trigger at the same time as dropping the hammer?

Re: Finally bought a Radom P-83
Doc, Thanks for the reply. Thought it was odd that the source of the P-64's name is well known, but couldn't find anything on where Wanad came from. I also used Google to translate the word and looked up what Vanadium is online. Code name makes sense. Any chance of getting a copy of the translated m...

Re: Finally bought a Radom P-83
I've been searching the net but can't find an answer:
Anyone know why these are called "Wanad/Vanad" or what the name means?

Finally bought a Radom P-83
Was in a gun store in Loveland CO this weekend looking for 9x18 pistols. They had 5 P-83 pistols marked $289.99 or $254.99. I asked the salesman about the price difference when the owner happened to walk by and said, "we are moving those at cost." I figured 254.99 was what they considered ...

Re: P-64 Spring Projectile Distances
Last week I lost control of the floor plate of a Tokarev Magazine. The spring hit behind the top of my peg board and was easy enough to find laying under my work bench. I spent 2 hours searching for the inner floor plate. Finally gave up and asked the wife for help. Took her 2 seconds to spot it. St...
