Safety First

To Denny: Anything is possible indeed. But I would swear in got cocked in that open top holster when I was getting in and out of the car. I will tell you this much, it sure scared the fire out of me! Thanks Mike And your story sure scares the fire out of those of use who carry a P-64 in an open top...

Tin of Polish makarov 9x18 ammo

Widener's has 1440 round spam cans of 9X18 on their website. Bernaul brand, not sure where that's from. Looks like they're currently out of stock. www.wideners.com

Tell me this is not crazy!

Yes, that IS crazy. No one should be paying $25-30 for this ammo. Online is the way to go. J&G for instance has 9X18 Brown Bear 500s for just under $100 if you buy 2 or more. I justify shipping charges by occasionally adding other gun stuff like targets, cleaning supplies, holsters etc. to the o...

Barrel Nick at Breech

Ross, tbone, I checked my P-64s, two of them (1970 and 1974) are dinged in the exact same 10-11 o'clock spot, not quite to the extent as in the photos but visible nicks nonetheless. I've disassembled and cleaned both guns numerous times and never noticed it before. Both function perfectly so I'm not...

CZ-82 Refinish?

Thanks dom for two excellent links which I reviewed and will re-study before I get underway. I now understand the importance of detail stripping the gun versus just a field-strip prior to painting.

CZ-82 Refinish?

dom, very nice work on the Romanian Tok in your 12/6 post. I am getting ready to undertake the same project on mine. I'll be using Wheeler Cerama-Coat. I have not painted a gun before so I'm in uncharted territory. Question: when you did the slide did you first remove the extractor? It occured to me...

Holding a Beretta 21A Bobcat up to the screen it and the 950BS look almost like twins. The only noticable difference is the trigger and 21A appears to have a few more slide serrations. If you can live with carrying a .22 the Bobcat is worth considering. It is tiny and lightweight. Only downside I've...

The Polish Wanad P-83

dickfunk, according to one source http://guns4u.info/?cat=146 the P-83 dbl. action pull is 11-13.5 lbs. I don't have a trigger scale to confirm that, however the DA on my new P-83 feels a bit heavier, more like 15. I would guesstimate SA is @ 6-7 lbs. I like the idea of adding a P-83 section to the ...

Good stuff! Thanks heavyduty77.

Anyone out there know if there's also an operator's manual for the P-83?

p-64 firing pin

Guys there is a good article entitled "Replacing Missing Firing Pins" written by a gunsmith at:

http://www.gunreports.com/special_reports/

It's not specific to the P-64 and is geared more to the person with some machinist skills but might be helpful. hangfire

P-83

Well I only had to wait about 3 months for my wish to come true. I'm now the owner of a beautiful new, unissued P83. J&G came through big time. If you order one pay the extra $10 for hand select. My mfr. date is 1991, factory #11, one mag is matching S/N. I would post a picture were I not photog...

Red safety dot

Belated thanks for the suggestions guys. My red dot replacement was accomplished without a hitch and looks great. I went with a single drop of bright red nail polish that expanded to fill the space perfectly, as soram mentioned. Cleaned/degreased the area first to ensure good adhesion. The most chal...

Just starting out

P-64 is a nice little pistol for the money. Very sturdy as you'd expect in a gun built for military application, a surprisingly accurate shooter considering the short barrel, and the ammo is still available at reasonable prices.

If you go the J&G route pay the extra 10 bucks for hand select.

Taurus PT145

While back I had a similar problem, the cylinder on my Model 941 was binding in both double and single action. I returned it to the Taurus repair facility in Miami and they fixed and returned it to me in 2 weeks. You can find Taurus customer service horror stories on other boards, however my one and...

The P-64 in the foreground looks kinda gnarly. I think I received that one in my last online purchase.
