In any such incident, the important thing is that no one was hurt.

My new E. German Makarov
Now I have two; one for each hand. Not sure why I have three P-64's.

Re: 45 AUTOS
.45 Automatics are so commonplace that I wouldn't even worry about carrying one - assuming that one didn’t mind the bulk and weight. I seriously doubt that a DA would make an issue of it.

Re: vacuum sealed ammo
Sounds like a good idea, and I don't believe it costs all that much for the equipment. I like the thought of throwing some dessicant in the bag as well.

Re: Leaving magazines loaded.
I tend to agree with the second school of thought. Go easy on the oil and wipe it off when you're done. All the more so if gun/magazine is to be concealed carried, as oil is a lint magnet. Careful leaving fingerprints on those springs too. Skin oil/sweat is a surprising corrosive mixture!

Re: Leaving magazines loaded.
I work in the coil handling industry. We design equipment that uncoils and straightens those giant coils of steel and aluminum you see tooling down the highway all the time. Steel will not develop a memory (i.e. lose its springiness) unless it's bent beyond its yield point, which should never happen...

Re: Questions from a new P-64 owner
I've been perfectly happy keeping all of mine factory stock. I don't fire them double action at the range, and if I ever did have to use one in a self-defense situation, I wouldn't notice that DA trigger pull at all.

If you're anything like most new P-64 owners, you'll be amazed at how well they shoot. Then you'll want another one!

First off, welcome to the board! You'll find this site is a great resource.
And yes, it's perfectly normal for the trigger to move freely with the safety engaged. No worries.

Sweet! Except you've got a pocket knife wedged in the trigger guard.
Bummer.
