Did you grind the ends of the recoil spring flat? The spring that goes around the barrel? You should also grind flat the hammer spring. If not it may be binding somewhere. Take a look at the originals they should have flat ends. Lightly grind yours to look like the originals.

Look at the frame and check to make certain none of the pins are extending out. I noticed one of the pins blocking the slide grove.

If you go here and do a search you will find lots of info on how to remove the barrel. These are for a Makarov but will also work with the 64.

You can cut the barrel from the inside or gentally tap the slipe off. Then if you can find a new barrel your set to go.

Read the threads on people shooting themselves while having one in the chamber. These P-64s will fire if dropped while the safety is off.

I don't have mine with me to confirm but check the slide and slide rails for a small pin. If the pin is not pushed in all of the way the slide will not go down all of the way.

The chamber made need a good cleaning to remove teh varnish that the cases are coated with.

Remember that you should lightly square off the ends of both springs so they fit better into the postol.

Glad to here that you are ok and that no one got hurt. Is it possible that the hollow points where catching on the chamber or ramp and not going into full battery? Why where you pulling the hammer back, these are double action? Was the gun and the firing pin channel fully cleaned before you started ...
