Re: Magazines for new owners

I've found Academy's Monarch house brand is the cheapest, yet works consistently and as well as anyone else's.

^^^ What he said; I'm well satisfied with mine. Reported problems with the PI grip are few, and are corrected with the solutions above or a quick line to Russ.

I'll second installing Polish Iron grips. You'll be amazed at the difference.

Re: Snap caps

There's no reason you couldn't load your own using fired brass. I recommend using a rubber pencil eraser in place of the primer. I saw this method for rifle snap caps back in the 60s.

Re: New to P64s and jazzed!

Greetings all, New to P64s and the forum. I said "Hi" in the new member thread, but hello again. A few things I wanted to mention/ask. I got a new to me P64 from Classic Firearms. $180 with the $20 hand pick. I would say the pistol is in the 98% to 99% condition range. Mirror bore. Magazi...

I agree on AIM, but I've had good service from Classic as well. It's all in how you approach them, I guess.

I installed a 20# Wolff recoil spring in mine and left the hammer spring alone. She runs like a Swiss watch now!

Pin it with a paper clip. There are very good How To videos on YouTube. Use your Google-fu to find them.

I've had the same experience with Russ replying fairly promptly early on. Of course, if his email or computer dies, or he's extremely busy YMMV. He really cares about customer satisfaction.

I would go with SOG first and Classic second. Either one is reputable, and I've had positive experiences with both.

Re: Failure to feed

Since (per the picture) you have your P64 disassembled, you should be able to depress the round in the mag while pushing the semi-chambered round out by the rim. I had the same thing happen to me routinely until I started loading only FIVE ROUNDS MAX in the mag. This fixed the problem for me, and I ...

Try ammoguide.com, join (cost is nominal) and do a search. There are MANY recipes. Searching drove me nuts before I discovered the site.

Powder manufacturers' sites often have recommendations as well.

Best of luck!
