Somewhat OT; Polish Holocaust hero dies at age 98

Yes, a great post. Read about her yesterday in the news. That is one tough woman. Can't afford to forget about people like her.

Knob Creek

I know I'm straying from the subject here, but did you all know that Knob Creek bourbon is simply Jim Beam but from the sweet spot in the warehouse. Not putting it down mind you, I think JB is quite decent bourbon. (hic!)

Charlton Heston dies

Yes, bless him and may he rest in peace. I especially love this quote of his: "...Mr. Clinton, sir, America didn't trust you with our health-care system. America didn't trust you with gays in the military. America doesn't trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don't trust ...

Range report, question

Oh, it was cleaned pretty good and lubed correctly before I took it out to the range. I think it is a spring issue.

Range report, question

Shot another P64 for the first time today, a 1976 model. Shot well. Still has the original springs as far as I can tell. Tried double action shot at first, stiff as usual, and the next single action shot came off real easy, almost too easy. When fired from single action mode this was not that much o...

Possible faulty P-64?

himmel: most interesting! I know two by no means makes a pattern, but nonetheless interesting. Did a PM to thesaint asking the same question but have not received a response.

anyone else?

I too feel mine is in great shape with no obvious tooling or damage.

Possible faulty P-64?

himmel: Yep, that it what mine does exactly. Fanning (I knew there was a more correct term, but could not remember it till now) the hammer, will strike the firing pin. Yes, the hammer will go into engagement rather quickly after you start pulling it back, BUT it could be a concern of one is in a hur...

Possible faulty P-64?

stibnite: in ready to fire mode the rear of the firing pin is not flush with adjacent surface of the safety, it sticks out, not a huge amount, but it clearly does stick out. Issue? Fix? Hammer would still hit that area when flicked. NORM: I think the saint got his from SOG. I got mine through a priv...

Possible faulty P-64?

Ok, have been all over the gun now: Barrnett: The sear plunger spring is there and looks in good shape, and the rod is there going through it. The end of the rod is flush with the hole in the sear. Pushing the top of the sear towards the barrel does not really move it all, since the bottom of the se...

Possible faulty P-64?

You are right on bzinggg. This sneaky little problem, and it does seem to be a problem, could really cause a tragedy. I almost blew it off and didn't see it as a problem, but for some of the other postings here. Don't have the gun with me now. When I get home I will work on Norms and Barnett suggest...

Possible faulty P-64?

blinddog: there seems to be some confusion here. With the safety ON (no RED DOT showing), my P-64 behaves as it should, the pencil will not launch. The pencil launches when the safety is OFF (red dot showing) under 3 conditons: 1. when trigger pulled in DA mode. 2. when trigger pulled in SA mode. 3....

NORM: Here is one recent posting you perhaps missed: See the first post. http://p64.proboards67.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1183656693 It sounds just like the problem I might have. I also heard through the FFL that I got gun from, that the previous owner complained of t...

Possible faulty P-64?

Just got my P-64, have not fired it yet. It is the triangular hammer one, 1976. Looks in good shape, previous owner did fire it, and said it was very accurate. Have taken it apart and totally cleaned and lubed it. Wanted to see if the firing pin was working, so I did the common pencil test where you...
