Re: Tisas 1911- questions
Here it is, sorry about the quality of the pic. Cellphone photo as soon as it left the store. Comes with 1 8 rd Mecgar mag. The finish is... uncertain? I've read some places call it parkerized, but it doesn't seem the same as my parkerized FEG Hipower from Coles Distributing; what it most closely re...

Tisas 1911- questions
I came across one of these used, $300 out the door, in excellent/like new condition. It's the government model, with no firing pin safety, .45 acp. I bought it, because 1 I had a hole in my collection where a 1911 should be, 2 it seems like a good price 3 I've read a lot of positive things about Tur...

Re: Question for Tokarev fans/experts?
ok, interesting idea on the grip issue. Curious as to whether it would work. When I bought this pistol back in around 05, it came with some homemade thin grips that actually do cover the safety holes, tossed into the shipping box (I was able to find them). Apparently that safety had been removed, an...

Re: Question for Tokarev fans/experts?
Yeah, now the fun part will be covering those holes in the frame :( . There are grips from both Marshals and grips4u that would do it (I particularly like the ones from Grips4u), but either set would cost basically what I had paid for the gun. An ideal solution would be to find some cheaper ones, ei...

Re: What did the original users think?
When my license comes, I think I am going to get one. But the question I keep wondering about the trigger pull issue that is associated with this gun is what did the decades of Polish issued men have to say about it? If it really is the tightest draw of any gun made... and that is what almost every...

Re: Question for Tokarev fans/experts?
Update- so I FINALLY had time to go shooting some again (been busy with family concerns). I was able to determine the problem with the Tokarev; the crappy safety was the culprit. The tiny screws had somehow sheared and I guess there had been some steel "grit" binding up the slide; I say st...

Re: UPDATE!Custom grips for P83's available NOW in any color
Found this thread late, but I can definitely vouch for Tillander with the grips. I recently bought a set of black flat grips for my PA 63, which eliminated that horrible thumbrest (I'm a lefty), makes the gun much more comfortable for me. The quality is such that I left the original right grip on, a...

Re: Question for Tokarev fans/experts?
I've put maybe 500 through it, it was definitely worn in when I got it, though. Came with 2 9mm barrels (they are identical). Of the 2 Norincos, this older one had the much slicker action. The new one was had to rack the slide if the hammer hadn't been cocked, the old one was very smooth. Up until t...

Question for Tokarev fans/experts?
I'm having a jamming problem with one of my Tokarevs. It is a Norinco T-54 that came in the base 9mm setup (the slide is marked 9mm, etc). I've owned 2 of these for years, both had functioned fine until recently. Now, the older one is a 1 shot pistol; the slide freezes back and will not rebound. It ...

Re: IJ-70 AH (double stack makarov)
I have some mags for my East German mak. I wanted the extra capacity for this one. edit- phones are crappy to post from :) always sounds blunt! As I said, I've got another single stack makarov, as well as a P-64 and a PA-63 (I recently learned on another board that it was an East German contract iss...

Re: IJ-70 AH (double stack makarov)
Give us a range report on their function. Non factory mags can be a hit or miss thing for functionality. I will, I look forward to a range trip as soon as I get a little time off from work. Note that my initial firearm purchase came with only a promag, so I can't compare to factory orig. My "o...

Re: IJ-70 AH (double stack makarov)
Update- I want to give a big thumb's up to Greg at Gunthings.com. For those of you that have the double-stack Makarov, you know spare magazines are rare as heck to find, and pricey when you do. For some reason, gunthings didn't list in the first couple of pages in a google search, but eventually I c...

Re: Altering holster to fit
Thanks! It seems to have worked as I hoped. The holster came out fine, it seems firm but not brittle. Everything shrunk to fit nicely. It's now perfectly molded to fit a P-64, just as though it was made for it. here's the pics of it dry with my P-64 in it. http://i61.tinypic.com/2irvsr7.jpg http://i...

Re: Altering holster to fit
Well, did this Sunday. As of today (Tuesday), the leather is not-quite-dry, but very close (you can feel it being a little cool to the touch). It seems like it will hold the new shape, I tested by taking the pistol out of the bag (I had let it sit inside until this afternoon), and trying it inside t...
