Re: SA pull weight
shotar--Understand the diff between take-up and trigger pull. My P64's SA pull (stock) is less than 3 lbs--that is why I won't trust it as CCW---

Re: SA pull weight
kurremkurm--I agree that the neat lil' P64 is a painful gun to shoot!
I can live with the heavy DA pull (for CCW), but not the light SA pull--just wish I could make the SA pull heavier w/o increasing the DA weight--

Re: Thinking about buying a P-83 Wanad but need some help.
IMO, P83 more like a Mak than similar to a P64. P83 has very nice DA/SA pulls, more bulky than the P64, much easier to control (recoil) than the P64, but more roughly finished--at least the ones I have seen--than the P64. IMO, the P83 is too bulky for CCW, unless you live in a cold climate and wear ...

Re: SA pull weight
I think we all understand the need to properly grip the pistol to prevent "doubles", but I doubt anyone would remember to do that if they had to use the pistol to defend their life-- While I find the DA horrendous, I have hesitated to change springs as,IMO. the stock SA is too light for CC...

Re: I wnet to a local gun show yesterday
Wow! Lots of gun-show haters here! I still go every gun show within a reasonable distance---
Love to see what is available, usually see good examples of rarer guns or guns I am interested in (mostly milsurps) and
occasionally find some great buys, tho not often on dealer tables.

Re: Star Super Modelo A
Black Blade--Nice collection of Spanish Steel! I enjoy my Star Modelo Supers (bought from Sarco) as they "fit" my hand better than a full-size M1911. Just wish parts (esp. bbls.) were more available-- Starline has newly made brass, and I understand regular .38 Super dies will work for relo...

The Polock is a proud resident of AZ (a free state), but was southern born & bred in Oak Ridge, TN--the Atomic City (atom bomb, WWII).

Re: comparison of pa-63 and cz-82?
Both good guns, but CZ82 a bit large for CCW (IMO) tho much nicer/easier to shoot. Seems to me the P64/P63 serve same purpose--good for CCW with lousy DA pulls.
Solution: get a P83! Great DA, accurate, and small enough for CCW--

Re: Found more P-83 Wanads
Hangfire, you are right! I wish the P83 was as inexpensive as the P64, but I haven't seen them going down in price. Even at $270 (from AIM, with free shipping) I couldn't resist, and am glad I didn't. A neat, interesting relic from the Warsaw Pact--

Re: Found more P-83 Wanads--got 2 from AIM
Just picked up the two P-83 pistols I ordered from AIM. Both dtd 1987, in very nice shape, steel frame guns (pay the $10 extra for best of 5--in my experience this is worth it cosmetically, at least as far as AIM goes). Each gun had one of the mags numbered (EP) to the gun--the other did not match. ...

Grab it! Bianchi is a good maker. If your gun will fit, that is a good price for an all leather Bianchi holster--

New M44 project gun
spyguy, I also have a Hungarian M44, but nowhere near as nice as yours. I am also the 1st person to modify/convert more common milsurps to be a little different, or just to experiment. However, your rifle appears to be too nice to modify! Even with the non-matching bolt, if it were my gun I'd not me...

My French MAS Project
carguy-I also have a weakness for restoring "project" guns to somewhat military configuration. Unfortunately, I am mechanically challenged, so most don't turn out very well!! It would seem to me you have the basis for a neat "tanker MAS 1936" or some such. Please keep us advised ...
