...And yet another new guy here...just bought a P64 from Classic. And, yes, mine was packed the same way. But the pistol is absolutely perfect. Haven't taken it to the range yet, but I already disassembled it completely, gave it a good cleaning, and reassembled it. If I'm smart enough to do it again...
