Re: My Mak Brass Got Glocked
PPU does run hot in the 9x18. I've not seen this myself but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Re: Are we ever gonna get 9x18 ammo?
I've never paid more than about $13/box for silver bear, including JHPs. Checked gunbot today, there's some in stock for < $13/box here: http://www.rareammo.com/silver-bear-9mm-makarov-94gr-bimetal-fmj-50-rnds Don't know if their shipping is reasonable, have never ordered from them. Hard to find th...

Re: Processing Brass
I will follow this with a three step process....
1. Expand the mouth with a 9x18 expander.
2. Resize with 9x18 FL resize.
3. Trim to 18mm FL.
I'll go from there... prime, load and so on.

Processing Brass
A report of sorts.... I purchased some "rot gut" 9mm NATO brass to reform into 9x18mm. They look like range sweepings. Some of the brass is badly stained. I tried to use a conventional tumblr to clean off the stains. Didn't work. I punched out the primers with a Lee Primer Capper. The 30 c...

Re: Are we ever gonna get 9x18 ammo?
If you enjoy reloading (and it's something I've been wanting to try, by the way), then by all means do it...but I feel folks are lying to themselves (perhaps to feel better about doing it?) by claiming they are saving money. For me the biggest reason would be the satisfaction of knowing I was that ...

Re: Are we ever gonna get 9x18 ammo?
Welcome to the forum. You can reload and save money. :hi: I've run the numbers, unless you make less than minimum wage at your job, there is absolutely no way you actually save money. I try to do fifty rounds a week. I reload fifty 9x18 in half an hour. The tumbler does most of the heavy lifting. T...

Re: question for seasoned reloaders
I was taught that semi autos ALWAYS require full length resizing. Same with pump action, lever actions, and so on.
The exception are bolt action rifles IF you only reload for that rifle. In which case you neck size.
It's important that you resize to get consistent round to round performance.

Re: Anyone ever have a Physician ask them if they own a fire
I'm using the cannoner definition.... I think it's an artillery piece with a barrel with more than nine calibers of length.
I like my Physician but do not think my gun ownership is his concern. So I fudge it.

Ain't legal to use semi autos for hunting where I live but some of you live with reasonable laws.
Good shooting!

Silver Bear was 100% effective with my P-64. It's not only great ammunition but it's attractive looking.perfesser33 wrote:My P64 (1972) doesn't eat the Brown Bear ammo. Any sugestions?
Winchester Metric, Prvi Partisan and S&B worked well for me.
Never tried Tula but I'd like to do so.

Re: Ammo
Mine is very sensitive to CCI Blazers. I have not measured the fired cases but suspect that aluminum cases could somehow disrupt primary extraction, causing some energy to be lost. I haven't yet run the numbers. Everything else fires and functions just fine. I would not want to duplicate the Polish ...

Re: Old vs New (sporterising)
I doubt that the P-64 was used much in violence.
If you are superstitious about "guns with bodies" stay far away from the Nagant revolvers. They got a lot of use in cellars..

Re: Anyone ever have a Physician ask them if they own a fire
I tell the truth - a gun is an artillery launcher with more than so many calibers in length. I don't own any of those and say so.

Re: P64 strength
I only know of one blow-back 9x19 pistol that may still be around and that is the Astra 600. Or in its 9 x 21 sibling, the Astra 400. I had one of those Astra - recoil is punishing. The Hi-Point is blowback. I think that the mass of the slide of a Hi-Point is a good bit heavier than that of a P-64....
